OOTD & FOTD - Interview Outfit and Advice!

Today I had a job interview, so I thought it would be the perfect excuse to do an Outfit of the Day and Face Of The Day with a few tips for handling an interviews!

First off, I done my make-up. I always do this before I tackle my hair or clothing.
For interviews I never use a large amount of make-up, I fully believe less is more in this situation. Today I used;
  • Superdrugs BB Creme in Fair
  • MUA's Extreme Volume Mascara in black
  • Miss Sporty Spot control pressed powder in Transparent
  • Vasleine Lip Balm in Rose Tint.

I started by applying the BB Creme all over my face using a round sponge, making sure to give the best coverage I could all over. I then applied my powder with an all over face brush, using round circular movements on my jaw line, and patting movements on my forehead and cheeks to set the powder. I then applied two coats of my mascara to my lashes, to add definition to my eyes; if I had of had access to a nude or brown eye shadow, I also would have used this to add some more definition. Lastly I applied the lip balm, it gave my lips a lovely red tint which just set off the whole look. I don't use a lot of make-up for interviews as I believe this helps them see more of the real you, which is the person they'll (hopefully) be hiring!

Next I moved onto my hair. I just done some basic straightening to it for my interview, as I felt it may be too much to add a lot of volume. I used my hairs natural movement and growth patterns to add a slight amount of volume; by straightening my hair upwards, it encourages extra volume.
Once this was all done, my face looked like this;

I felt this was enough for a natural look with some coverage.

Next I moved onto my outfit. This was a casual interview, so I kept with my minor look and just picked out a pretty dress with minor accessories. My finished outfit was;

The dress is from George at Asda (Size 20) and cost £16. I felt the collar on this was beautiful and would be a lovely dash of colour to a mostly black outfit. The tights are also from Asda and they cost around £4. I got my shoes in Primark last year on sale for around £5. The necklace was a gift from my boyfriends mother, which she got in a charity shop for £2. I also had on a perfume called "Romantic Embrace" which I received for Christmas, that had a lovely, soft, flowery scent.

I got the job I was interviewed for today, so I felt like giving some advice to you all as well!
  1. Be Yourself! They just want to get to know you at an interview and see if you fit the position, be yourself and I'm sure they'll love you!
  2. Be Honest! There is no point in lying during an interview, they will find out eventually.
  3. Ask a question at the end. This is so important, even if its about a uniform, or pay. If you have none, let them know but make sure to ask if its ok to ask later if you get one.
  4. Try to stay calm! Breathe before you go in, or listen to some relaxing music. I have anxiety and to keep calm I sing to myself. I usually do this in the car before I go in, so I don't look completely insane!
I really hope this advice is helpful, and if you want to know anything more, comment below and let me know!
Thank you for reading and I hope you have a lovely weekend!

OOTD & FOTD

Today I thought I'd do my OOTD and FOTD for you guys!

First of, this is all the make-up I used to create this look as well as the brushes I used. All of this is affordable and a large majority can be purchased in Boots or Superdrug.

I always start with my Avon Magi X Illuminating Face Perfecter. This product smooths out your skin, and hides any blemishes, soothes redness and evens out skin tone. I use one squirt and apply all over my face. This is only available through avon and currently costs £6, which may seem dear, but this tube has lasted me over six months.

Next I used MUA's undress your skin foundation in Porcelain. I used a small amount and first applied it to my problem areas (Redness and visible acne scars) then spread it out over the rest of my face. This product is available in all Superdrug stores and their online website as well as MUA's website. It costs £5 in superdrug and lasts a very long time. It also lasts all day, and gives a very nice coverage.

Next I apply my Miss Sporty So Clear Blemish Control Powder in Transparent. I used my Avon all over face, powder brush to apply this. This powder is used just to set my foundation and conceal any more redness in my face. This product can be bought in a majority of Superdrug and Boots stores, as well as on the Miss Sporty UK website where it costs £3.99. I have spot prone skin, and a lot of products have caused breakouts in the past, but this product really has helped in preventing any major breakouts.

Next I make a start on my eye look. Today I choose to use a palate I got a while back with a newspaper. I looked it up, and there is a website for this brand ModelsOwn and they no longer have this product, but they do sell something similar - here which costs £7.99. This product does last quite a while, but I am still unsure if I will be repurchasing this once it runs out. I use the lighter of the two colours all over my lids, and into the corner of my eye for a more awake affect. I then use the darker colour in my crease. This creates a very minor smokey eye effect. I also blend it out slightly to add some subtleness.

Next I applied my 2True Easy Glide eyeliner in shade 1 across my lash line for added eye definition. This can be purchased at Superdrug Stores for £1.99. I then apply two coats of MUA Extreme Volume Mascara in Black onto my eyelashes to add volume. This product is no longer available in Superdrug but it is still available on the MUA website for £2.

Next I done my LOTD, which is a lovely red shade from The Colour Workshop.
I first applied my lip liner around the outside of my lips to add definition to them and to help the colour stay longer. I then applied the lip stick over my lips. Both of these products can only be purchased as a part of a set, but as I gained them as a gift, I do not know the cost, only that they come from stores such as Superdrug or Boots around Christmas Time. They also seem to be available on Ebay.

The Last part of my make-up is my Anew by Avon Power in Soft Beige. I used this as my finishing product, to set everything else in place and to add my finial bit of colour to my very pale skin. This product can also only be purchased through either an Avon Representative or through the Avon website. It costs £10.50 but does last a good while, I do plan to buy this again soon as I'm slowly running out of it.

Now that my face look is done, I moved onto my hair look. Its incredibly simple and I tend to wear this most days.
These are all the products, items and brushes I used to create this style;

Firstly, I sprayed some of my Batiste Dry Shampoo in Deep Dark Brown into my hair. I use this to add volume and make my hair easier to work with. This product is available in almost all drug stores, chemists, Supermarkets and any places that sells hair products. I bought mine in Superdrug for £3.99. I then use my Denman brush to distribute it properly throughout my hair. This brush is from Sally's Salon Services, for around £7.

 I then straighten out my hair with my Corioliss C2 Straighteners that I got a few years ago in Sallys Salon Services. I adore these straighteners and would highly recommend them. They currently cost around £90 but last for a long time so are worth the price. I also used my black HeadJog comb when straightening to help with sections. This is also available in most Sallys stores, but I am not sure of the price, I think its around £5.
I then begin back-combing my hair with my little purple comb. I bought this in an Asda store as part of a pack of combs for £4. I back-comb my hair by starting in the middle at the crown, then doing two square sections on either side, then taking two smaller square sections between one side and the crown on each side. I then use this comb to smooth it out a bit. I then Sprayed in my Boots Extra Hold Hairspray, to maintain this look throughout the day. That hairspray is available in Boots Stores and on their website for £1.79

That is the finished make-up and hair look!

The outfit I choose today was a White Jumper with a Gold Snowflake From Primark in Size 20 which was around £10-15 but is now no longer in stock. I also wore a White Stretch Jumper below from Sainsburys clothing line TU which costs around £5 and comes in a few other colours. The Grey Jeggings are from Asda's Clothing Line George in size 20 and usually cost around £10. I got my Brown Snow Boots from Ebay for £7.99. Lastly my skulls hair bow is from Claires Accessories and cost me around £5.00, however this was a few years ago so I don't think they'll still have it.

I really hope you enjoyed this OOTD with FOTD, and if you want to see more, let me know!
